All is well in karaoke
During 2019, a whopping 2.5 million karaoke songs were sung through Feelment, which can be considered a reliable source to explore the preferences of Finns in karaoke venues. The most popular artists and songs remained relatively consistent, so there were no major surprises in 2019. The most significant observation was the distribution of singing sessions based on the language of the song, as out of the 2,513,587 karaoke songs sung, 76% were in Finnish.
The quantity is not a measure
Feelment's karaoke selection consists of approximately 60,000 songs, but in 2019, only half of these were sung, leaving almost 30,000 songs completely "unused." When filtering out overlapping versions from the sung half, the result is 23,984 different songs that were sung. Overlapping refers to multiple different versions of the same song. For example, there are 8 different versions of Loiri's "Lapin Kesä."
The singing rate for domestic songs is nearly 100%
Singing rate refers to how many different songs were sung compared to the total size of the selection. The overall singing rate for the entire karaoke library was approximately 50%. For domestic songs, the singing rate is a dazzling 98%, meaning that nearly every Finnish-language song in the selection was sung at least once. In the case of foreign songs, the rate is 38%.
