The 2024/2025 Premier League season is full of Excitement

The English Premier League will feature 380 matches during the 2024/2025 season, all of which will be broadcast live on Viaplay. Manchester City has been the Premier League's top team for several years now, but how will they fare this season? What does Ville Klinga from Viaplay's football team think?

"The top favorite for the upcoming Premier League season is once again Manchester City. City is chasing its fifth consecutive title, and the challengers have a tough task in keeping up with Pep Guardiola's team.

I consider Arsenal to be the main challenger, as they were able to stay in the title race for a long time last season. It's also going to be interesting to see how Liverpool performs, as they are now entering the post-Jürgen Klopp era. Dutchman Arne Slot has stepped into Klopp's enormous shoes, and the pressure is sure to be intense.

From the teams behind the top contenders, a special mention goes to my childhood favorite, Ipswich Town. The 'Tractor Boys' have returned to the Premier League after a more than twenty-year absence, but simply staying up would be a great achievement. New stories will emerge throughout the season, so let's enjoy the world of the world's most magnificent football league!"

The 2024/2025 NHL season will feature over 150 prime-time games

The regular season of the 2024-25 NHL will consist of 1,312 games, over 150 of which will be prime-time matchups (i.e., airing at the best viewing time for Finnish audiences). This is the highest number of prime-time games ever! And the best part is that every single game will be available on Viaplay. Viaplay’s NHL coverage will also include weekly NHL prime-time studio broadcasts. This season’s schedule will feature more double studio broadcasts with two games than last year. Throughout the season, over 100 games will have Finnish commentary.

"NHL has long been an important product for us, and we strive to deliver it to our viewers as well-prepared as possible. We want it to feel as legendary as it should. Our NHL team, made up of top-notch TV professionals, really knows their stuff. Whether it’s game analysis, tackling the hottest topics, or sharing the stories of both international and Finnish hockey stars, we do it with such passion that it truly resonates on screen. We’re looking forward to another exciting season, not least because so many teams are brimming with Finnish star power,” says Viaplay’s hockey producer Iiro Harjula.

Viaplay’s expert studio team for the upcoming season includes Ville Nieminen, Ossi Väänänen, Jussi Jokinen, Mikko Lehtonen, Riku Helenius, Kimmo Timonen, Sami Hoffrén, and Esa Pirnes. Additionally, Ismo Lehkonen will be sharing his expertise during broadcasts throughout the season. The NHL commentators will once again include Finland’s NHL voice Antti Mäkinen, along with Tero Kainulainen, Velja Engström, and Nuutti Vihtilä. Studio hosts will include Tuomas Meling, Iiro Harjula, and Katariina Kiviranta.

Once again, there will be a strong Finnish presence on the ice, starting with last season’s championship captain Aleksander Barkov (Florida Panthers), and including Mikko Rantanen (Colorado Avalanche), Sebastian Aho (Carolina Hurricanes), Roope Hintz (Dallas Stars), Juuse Saros (Nashville Predators), Patrik Laine (Montreal Canadiens), and many more.

The Home of Formula 1 is Viaplay

In the spring of 2024, Viaplay announced that it had renewed its media rights for Formula 1 for the next five years, so motorsport fans should definitely stay tuned to Viaplay. While Max Verstappen and Red Bull continue to dominate season after season, other teams are battling full throttle for podium finishes.

All F1 race events are broadcast in Finnish on Viaplay, as usual. Additionally, there are intriguing pre- and post-race shows, featuring not only in-depth analysis but also fresh and exclusive interviews directly from the heart of the race weekends.

Besides Formula 1, Viaplay's offerings also include America's most popular motorsport series NASCAR, the premier motorcycle racing class MotoGP, and IndyCar.
